The release of Francesco Pico’s album ‘Imagining Sounds 2′ was a milestone for the Outside the Box label last year. As a follow up to Francesco’s first artist album on Extrema Music in 2007, it received critical acclaim from press and Djs worldwide including plays and charts from Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Dave Seaman. Late last year we started with the Imagining Sounds 2 Remixed series, so far including remixes by DJ Remy, Matt Rowan, Eelke Kleijn and Lank. Almost halfway through 2010, it is time to close off the series with an impressive last disc, including new remixes by Estroe, Roger Martinez and Sven Jacobsen & HP. Hoeger. Estroe, well known from her excellent work on labels such as Connaisseur and Bedrock, adds her melodic touch to Get Your Coat, We’re Going. Roger Martinez brings out the techno influences for his Re-Interpretation of Smashed Into the Sky. And finally, Sven Jacobsen & HP. Hoeger take The Thrill Will Be Later onto the beach, where the original soundscapes and sizzling arpeggios melt together. |

Once in a while you come across one of those records that you just can’t get out of your head. Leon Raes’ debut release, Aruba Garden, belongs to that category. Whether it’s the incredibly tight but clever groove, or the catchy lead introduced halfway through the track, Aruba Garden is a track that grows on you every time you listen to it. It’s been at the top of our summer chart for a while already, and probably will be there for months to come. On remix duties we have Embliss. He recently released his Lemonakia EP on Armada, receiving support from Miss Nine and Darin Epsilon among others. His trademark sound works very well for Aruba Garden, basing his remix on the lead from the original but complementing it with a smoking hot progressive groove! Eelke Kleijn delivers an excellent remixes to complete the package. He takes things up a notch compared to the original, but never looses the essence that makes the original so recognisable. |

Robbie Pardoel and Nick Sandler team up to bring us the excellent ‘Instantly Over’. The tom-driven start is quickly accompanied by haunting pads and an immense bassline. Chunky percussion and a fervid melody take the track towards its string-laden climax. Once the full strength of Instantly Over unfolds, sizzling noises and filtered arpeggios join in, and it becomes clear what an incredibly well-done records this is! On remix duties this time no one less than Stephen Lopkin. Well known from his numerous releases on Urban Torque, Stephen brings out the snappy percussion and 90s house influences to turn Instantly Over inside out, yet keeping the vibe that made the original so recognisable. |

Yuriy From Russia makes his debut on Outside the Box Music with the wonderful ‘Do You Want To Be Mine’ featuring vocalist Ange. Starting off slowly, accompanied just by lush chords and a punchy bassline, the track quickly turns out to be an excellent builder, picking up pace along the way. Clever melodies and funky stabs take the track towards its string-laden climax. Besides the vocal version Yuriy has also written a dub. An artist that needs no further introduction is Satoshi Fumi. Having featured on the label before with the excellent remix he did for Stefanowitz, we are thrilled to have him on board again. With his TimeTrip Mix he manages to take the original a bit deeper in a true house fashion. The added piano melody and dubbed out percussion give this mix Satoshi’s trademark sound we can’t get enough of. And of course besides the mix there is also a Satoshi Fumi TimeTrip Dub. Watch out for additional remixes of Do You Want To Be Mine by Spieltape in a few weeks, as well as additional material from Yuriy. |

Following up on the incredible Minor EP last year, DAVI returns to Outside the Box Music with his latest track ‘Blue Hour’. Well known for his trademark sound, which has landed him remixes for guys like Robert Babicz and the 16 Bit Lolitas, this one again is spot on. Lush pads, filter sweeps, chunky percussion and a deep throbbing bassline are all present and very well positioned throughout the track. On remix duties is label owner Eelke Kleijn, who has recently remixed acts like Way Out West and Hybrid. He takes the original up a notch, thoughtfully keeping the balance of the original intact but intermixed with a more dance floor minded rhythm. |

As a promoter and DJ Thomas has been around for quite a while, organising many nights throughout Poland, including ‘Love’, ‘Unikat’ and ‘Communikation’. More recently his productions have taken a flight as well, including releases on labels such as Baroque, Shiva and Unikat. With Anthony Pappa, Hernan Cattaneo and Sebastian Davidson among his supporters, thing are going really well for Thomas. His debut on Outside the Box with ‘Get Up’ is one we have anticipating for a while. All 3 tracks are a notch deeper and techier then Thomas’ usual sound, but they are incredible dance floor stompers none the less. From the chords and stab action in ‘Get Up’ to the crunchy beats of ‘Make a Move’, we really can’t sit still while listening to these.. and hopefully you won’t either! |

Sezer Uysal was born and raised in Bursa, Turkey. His love affair with music started at age 17 when he started to listen to electronic music. After releasing his first record through Baroque Records in early 2009, things are moving very fast for him, resulting in a string of quality releases and DJ performances in countries such as Turkey and Russia. Conventional Fatigue is his first release on Outside the Box Music. With it’s throbbing bassline and warm stabs, the record represents exactly what the label stands for; quality dance music that doesn’t limit itself to one genre. With Edwin & Ferdy as well as Evren Ulusoy on remix duties, there is something for everyone here. Evren takes the original a step deeper and inserts a bit more groove and shuffle into it. Edwin & Ferdy on the other hand take it up a notch into an anthem-like track that just doesn’t seem to stop building, very reminiscent of today’s progressive / techno crossover by the likes of Henry Saiz. |

For out 34th release we have three incredible tracks by Dutchman Jordi Bouman, who has previously released music on labels like Little Mountain Recordings and Franchise Records. When you listen to the title track ‘My First Pony’, quality is definitely the first word to come to mind. Jordi has a knack for creating an incredible groove and just having it build and build throughout the track. As soon as the stabs come in at the minute and a half mark, this track just won’t let you go. The other tracks are similarly intriguing. Where ‘Turn It Up Freedom Rock’ has a slightly housier twist to it, ‘Bulletsj’ is a peaktime monsters build for destroying dancefloors worldwide. My First Pony is an EP to be proud of. We really can’t wait to see what else Jordi is currently brewing! |

Tundra, born Jonathan Jansen, is a Dutch producer hailing from Amersfoort, The Netherlands. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sound Design & Composition and currently graduating on a Master’s degree in Media Culture, you could say Tundra is a pretty busy guy. Having previously done tracks and remixes for labels such as Manual Music, Sleaze, TEAM and his own label Savoir Records, Tundra now turns his attention to Outside the Box Music with the release of his excellent Organs of Youth. The original is such a distinct record you probably won’t get it out of you heard easily once you’ve heard it. Organs of Youth has that typical retro, almost underworld-ish, vibe to it that gets dancefloors moving without effort. Giorgos Gatzigristos is also on board, well known from his previous work on John Digweed’s Bedrock label as well his Integer EP on Outside the Box in 2009. He turns Organs of Youth inside out and takes it a notch deeper, perfectly complementing Jonathan’s original. Watch out for additional remixes later this year as well! |

After last year’s Dopamine Theory, label owner Eelke Kleijn is back again on Outside the Box Music with a brand new 3-track EP. The title track ‘The Way That You Are’ is reminiscent of Eelke’s earlier sound in tracks like 8 Bit Era and Where Are My Goggles. The soaring guitar lead however, takes this track up a notch, and where earlier tracks were a bit funkier this one is definitely big room material. DAVI, who featured on the label before with his Minor EP in 2009, has remixed The Way That You Are and we are extremely pleased with the result! If the original is a bit too much for you, you might very well like this more dubbed out (but peak time non the less) version. Last but not least, Eelke’s track ‘Ring The Bells’ is included as well. This is a more unofficial follow up to Dopamine Theory, and has that typical techno ish groove but with a dose of melody on top. Very hypnotic and definite club material. |

The 31st release on the label is entirely of Argentinian origin. ‘Island / Septiembre’ is Mariano’s first release on the label, and an impressive one at that we might add. The dark, hypnotic influences he is so well known for are very present in both these tracks, but with a slightly modern, laidback twist to them. Where Island takes you on a intense deep ride, Septiembre is its more melodic counterpart. Fernando Ferreyra, Mariano’s partner on many of their tracks, and Pablo Acenso have both remixed Septiembre. The result are two entirely different remixes which complement the original perfectly. Where Fernando takes Septiembre down progressive lane, very reminiscent of his earlier work and a welcome addition to the more laidback original, Pablo trots down a darker path and reworks Septiembre into a more current day vibe, well suited for the big rooms. |

Though Daniel at first glance seems to be a relatively new name in the scene, looks can be deceiving. As 3Colours, Daniel was responsible for a number of big tracks like ‘Picture This’ and ‘95th Street’ on Only Records a few years back. He recently graduated from the Utrecht School of Arts receiving the Master of Arts in Music & Technology, also doing an internship at Machine Head in Venice Beach LA, which specialises in music for games, films and other media. For this EP, Daniel has written two excellent tracks on both ends of the spectrum. The Day After is laidback but groovy, featuring a wicked piano hook. Rhodes are added along the way for that extra bit of funk injection. No Small Talk on the other hand is more reminiscent of today’s tech house sound, building on sharp stabs and punchy percussion. On remix duties is Roger Martinez, who has featured on the label before with his excellent Alteration EP in 2007. His remix is nothing short of amazing, taking the original a notch deeper but ever with the dance floor in mind. We think our 30th release in a very strong one, and hope you agree with us! |
