With Lonely Departure, Dutchman Glen McArdle is responsible for the 29th release on the label. Having only been introduced to producing in 2008, it is clear Glen has got a real knack for writing music. Lonely Departure is somewhat reminiscent of that classic progressive sound which was so popular in earlier days, but with today’s more laidback vibe. The big pads, arpeggio’s and haunting synths make it an excellent track for getting people in the mood or going deeper late at night. The additional synth-laden remix by Soulfinder (Stephen Hogg) is a bit funkier and crosses the borders between progressive and house, the sound Stephen is so well known for by now. Last but not least, Eelke Kleijn has edited Glen’s track Home At Last, making it more dance floor friendly. The guitars in this one are something we fell in love with instantly. We dare even say it’s an underground-approved riff Coldplay could have written! |

Francesco Pico’s second artist album Imagining Sounds 2 received critical acclaim from artists as diverse as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Estroe, Miss Nine, Andy Moor and Nuno Dos Santos. Reviewers from 365Mag and ProgressiveHouse.com called it ‘a praiseworthy second album’ and ‘a magical journey’. After the much sought after remix pack 1 which contained remixes by DJ Remy and Matt Rowan, Francesco’s album gets reworked yet again. Hungarian prodigy Lank, who featured on the label before with his Time to Move EP, has done an excellent remix of Like The Old Days. OTB Head-honcho Eelke Kleijn has done an upbeat remix of See What We Can Find. Both are a fine addition to an already amazing album. The last remix EP due in 2010 will contain remixes by Estroe and Lemon8. |

After releasing his first EP on Darko Esser and Ger Laning’s Wolfkuil Records in 2004, Giorgos Gatzigristos signed with Kompakt’s K2 and released three records with them. He has been on a roll ever since, releasing music on Channels Music, Snejl Records and John Digweed’s Bedrock label. He also got in touch with the Manual Music family and felt right at home. Besides performing at the Manual Orchestra in the Melkweg Amsterdam, Giorgos is also responsible for some of their finest releases to date, such as Ronin which was favoured by Sasha. Understandably, we are eager to announce the release of his Integer EP on the Outside the Box label. Three excellent tracks very reminiscent of the modern techno sound, but with a fine atmospheric edge to them. Needless to say the DJ Feedback is incredible, with support from John Digweed, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Mauro Picotto, Nic Fanciulli, Dubfire and many others. |

Soulfinder’s ‘Deep Measures’ is already the 3rd EP by Ireland-based Stephen Hogg on the label. With recent releases on Deep Sessions, Deepology and Toes in the Sand, Stephen has been making quite a name for himself as a steady supplier of quality progressive house. After his recent Shadow Dance EP which included a remix of Colour of Love by Derek Howel, Soulfinder himself has done a new edit of his classic tune Trauma this time. Deep Measures has also been remixed by Ilya Malyuev, hailing from St. Petersburg in Russia. Early support on this one comes from Hernan Cattaneo, who was very fond of all 3 tracks. |

David “DAVI” Khanjian grew up listening to classic sounds of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the likes. Self-taught to flaunt an acoustic guitar by the shy age of 15, David soon discovered a deep passion for music. Fast forwarding past a stint as a vocalist in the Yerevan Komitas State conservatory, and a dj residency at Monte Cristo, most prestigious night club in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, David suddenly found himself in Los Angeles at the age of 20. Focusing on production of genre defying electronic music, David’s sound can best be described as deeply melodic journey into the mind that can leave you whiplashed much like a rollercoaster. As the vibrant strings of acoustic guitar resonate over thick bass lines, you can feel a warm glow in your heart, interrupted only by an occasional conga riff. DAVI’s Minor EP is a showcase of his talent. 3 amazing tracks already supported by the likes of Nick Warren, Robert Babicz, Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn. We will without a doubt hear much more of DAVI in the future! |

Lank (Peter Golyan) is one of Hungary’s most successful young upcoming producers. His work has not gone unnoticed, and after having released on labels like Tilth and No Smoking, his first artist album No Sense of Direction recently was signed to Quivver’s BozBoz label. Amongst his followers we can count Djs such as Sasha, Anthony Pappa and Sander Kleinenberg. Time to Move is his first release on Outside the Box Music, and it comes with 2 great remixes by none less than Nick Hogendoorn and Adam Byrd. The original has that typical Lank sound. Psychedelic effects, rolling grooves, flappy drums and charming melodies is how Lank himself describes it. It’s a definite crowd mover, low in tempo but high in energy. For those that like the uptempo sounds there is also a dub mix included, which takes some of the original grooves and melodies but is mostly based on a fresh, hypnotic new theme. Nick Hogendoorn, well known from his collaborations with Eelke Kleijn, takes the original lead and gives it a slightly deeper touch he. Adam Byrd on the other hand has a more housey approach, definite peak time material than will get any floor going. Between these 4 versions we’d be very surprised if there is not one version that will rock your boat! |

Soulfinder’s (Stephen Hogg) first release on the label was the excellent Trauma EP last year October. And it didn’t go unnoticed; even though this was Stephen’s first release it built an excellent name for him and received support from Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Howells among others. The brandnew Shadow Dance EP takes us back to that typical Soulfinder sound he’s becoming more and more famous for. Haunting pads, ever hypnotic melodies and dark key changes. Fans of the genre will be thrilled with this excellent follow up. Derek Howell is on board as well, remixing one of the best tracks of the Trauma EP; Colour of Love was favoured by Nick Warren, and Derek managed to insert that typical Howell Funk into it. We have also included the original again for this release. Watch out for more Soulfinder material on the label in a few months! Later this year his first artist album is due as well on Toes in the Sand Recordings. |

Florian Stanescu (Fjor) was born in Calarasi, a small town in Romania in the year ‘85.He grew up listening to artists like Depeche Mode, Enigma, Daft Punk and The Prodigy. From 2000 onwards he has been writing his own music. His debut EP on Outside the Box Music is already a succes even before its release, with Gare Mat K and Alex Young signing the track Funkazoid to their new Progrezo Records compilation, and Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn both playing out the release as well. Both tracks are well thought out dance floor productions, crossing the bridge between techno and progressive house. |

Dutchman Stefanowitz is responsible for the 22nd release on Outside the Box Music. And he does so in style, with a wicked 2-track EP entitled ‘Witzkraft | Open’. His deep techno beats combined with warm melodies and lush pads give his music an incredibly rich sound. Just listen to the first few minutes of Witzkraft and you know exactly what we mean. It’s no suprise he already released his music on credible labels like Anjunabeats, Strom and Smoke Digital. As a DJ he also been around for a long time, playing at some of Amsterdam’s oldest and most famous clubs as well as international festivals like Dance Valley. On remix duties is Satoshi Fumi from Japan. This man almost does not need further introduction, with releases on labels like Urbantorque, Plastic City, Klik Records and Yoshitoshi. As if Witzkraft was not massive enough by itself already, Satoshi takes the original and turns it up another notch. This is absolutely wicked, don’t miss it! |

None less than Sasha remix-contest winner Logiztik Sounds and Brazilian based DJ Kally are responsible for the next release on Outside the Box Music, ‘Smash It’. After writing music for labels like Emfire and Global Underground they definitely manage to hit the right spot once again, balancing on the verge between tech house and progressive house. If it’s not the catchy vocal sample that draws your attention, it must be the hypnotic arppegios or growling bassline that gets to you. We are sure Smash It will become a favourite of many! Remixes are included by none less than Terry Grant and Qbical. We all know Terry Grant from his excellent releases on labels such as Bedrock, Deep and System. He manages to keep the original feeling intact, though with a heavy injection of funk and acid. Qbical is well known from his recent releases on Paul Hazendonk’s Manual label, including his debut artist album ‘Life is Just a Bunch of Pixels’. The album single ‘Dust in the Cartridge’ received support from Richie Hawtin. Using the original arpeggio to start with, his remix inserts that typical Qbical sound with retro pads & stabs and well thought-out key changes. An excellent builder, don’t miss it! |

Francesco Pico and Roell Sapphire’s ‘The Thrill Will Be Later’ is one of those amazing epic builders that you only come across every once in a while. It’s no wonder that it’s already being favoured by Hernan Cattaneo as well as Nick Warren. It takes a massive 4 minutes for the bassline to come in (hence the name), but once it drops The Thrill will grab you and not let go until well after the 10 minute mark. Honestly, you cannot miss this one; on the edge of 2008 they bring you one of the best progressive tracks this year has seen! Francesco & Roell have also included an intro and break tool to use parts of the track in a more creative way. But don’t think you’re done after The Thrill. Not with a track like ‘Browser’ to accompany it. If you’re into hypnotic melodies, haunting pads and basslines as deep as the Grand Canyon, you will want to check this one out. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! |
